What is options flow and how does it work?

Options flow is the real-time stream of option contracts being bought and sold across exchanges. Large or unusual orders often signal how institutional traders and hedge funds, sometimes called "smart money," are positioning ahead of major price moves. Robinflow aggregates this data from every U.S. options exchange, highlights unusual activity, and filters out the noise so you can see what matters.

What are dark pools and can retail traders see that data?

Dark pools are private, off-exchange venues where institutions execute large block trades without moving the public market price. These trades are reported publicly after execution, which means the data is available, but hard to interpret on its own. Robinflow processes dark pool prints in real time, showing you the price levels, sentiment, and size of institutional activity that would otherwise be buried in raw FINRA trade-reporting feeds.

How does Robinflow detect unusual options activity?

Robinflow's algorithms monitor every contract across all U.S. options exchanges and flag trades that stand out: large premium sizes, volume that far exceeds open interest, aggressive sweep orders hitting multiple exchanges, and activity in names or strikes with no recent history.
